They are demanding deployment of traffic police near Davika crossing, especially during school time and peak hours, till the flyover is constructed.

According to a local, Vikram Gulati, principal, Shivalik BEd College, due to absence of flyover on the highway near Davika crossing, people who visit the Lord Shiva temple every day and those who come here to perform last rites at Davika cremation ground face a difficult time.

He added that a number of educational institutions and government offices are situated on both sides of the national highway but due to lack of flyover it is risky for school children to cross the busy road every day.

Gulati said buses coming from Kashmir, Jammu and other parts of the state and local mini-buses halt on the NH, creating problem for the pedestrians, especially small children and elderly, who find it very difficult to reach other side of the road without assistance.

Locals have threatened to hold a demonstration if their demand for a flyover was not met soon.
