ULFA 'chairman' Arabinda Rajkhowa's bail plea scheduled to have come up for hearing on Wednesday was deferred to December 24 by the TADA court.
Rajkhowa's release is imminent with the Assam government deciding not to oppose his bail application as a part of the Centre's policy to take the peace process forward.
Meanwhile, the ULFA Chairman, who was taken to Guwahati Medical College Hospital for a routine medical check-up, told reporters that he was hopeful that the peace talks process would soon receive an impetus and the people of the state "can expect a good news in the new year."
Rajkhowa, further, said the outfit's general council would meet once all the jailed leaders are released from prison on bail.
Most ULFA leaders, including outfit ideologue Bhimakanta Buragohain alias 'Mama', Vice-Chairman Pradip Gogoi, 'Publicity Secretary' Mithinga Daimary, 'Cultural Secretary' Pranati Deka and 'Deputy Commander-in-Chief' Raju Barua, have been already released.
Besides Rajkhowa, 'Foreign Secretary' Sasha Chowdhury and 'Finance Secretary' Chitrabon Hazarika are currently lodged in Guwahati Central Jail after they were handed over to Indian authorities following their arrest in Bangladesh.
