KANNUR WILL take on Mysore in the final of the All India Inter University Women Basketball Championship to be played at Maj Dhyanchand Grounds on Monday.
In the first semifinal Kannur convincingly got the better of Gurunanak Dev. Maintaining their rhythm, Kannur girls played with an aggressive strategy using short passes to good effect and converting every opportunity into points. Once again Bina contributed maximum points for Kannur scoring 18 points.
Gurunanak Dev played well in the first part of the game. But failure to convert opportunities in the last part of the game resulted in their defeat. Maninder with 14 points was their highest scorer.
The second semifinal between Mysore and MG Kottayam saw the biggest upset of the tournament as defending champion Kottayam lost the match 48-53.
After Kannur’s one-sided win in the first semifinal, spectators were thrilled by the second semifinal. Fast passes and excellent control by players of both the teams carried their interest till the end of the match.
