According to police, Rajiv Sharma killed his wife Meenu Sharma in a fit of rage. The duo have a 10-year-old son. The incident was reported by the elder sister of the deceased who lives in the same locality.

“When we reached the spot we found the deceased’s body lying in a pool of blood with the accused sitting next to it, on the bed,” said CO Santosh Kumar. The officers also had a tough time persuading Rajiv to open the main gate of his house.

“There were no external injuries on the body but there was a lot of blood,” said SO Rajbeer Singh.

According to police, Rajiv took responsibility of the crime and told the police that he “inserted his right forearm in his wife’s private parts which resulted in her death”. “He has said so but we are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death,” said the investigating officer.

Mangli Prasad, who lives on rent in the same house as the couple’s, said, “I was sleeping when the incident happened. They used to fight a lot. Apart from that I don’t know anything.”
