The state Congress alleged the chief minister’s appeal was a gimmick.

Spokesman Subodh Srivastava alleged the state government which wants a bigger share of funds has not just misused funds on unproductive things like statues and memorials but has also not been able to fully utilise the aid and cited the budget of various heads, including in education and medical sectors, which could not be fully utilised.

“The chief minister who has been wasting public funds on setting up a jungle of stones is merely rendering lip service when she is asking for Opposition help. She ought to tell the people of the state as well as the Opposition about the spending of the funds provided to the state by the 12th Finance Commission,” he said.
