About 25 km from the city, village Baghanki is in mourning. More than 20 young men of this village near Manesar on the National Highway 8 are feared to be dead in an accident in Uttarakhand.
The accident occurred on Saturday night when a mini truck, carrying 27 men from Baghanki, fell into a 200-feet-deep ditch in village Dabrani, near Uttarkashi. The men were on a pilgrimage as Kanwarias.
Immediately after being informed of the accidents, relatives of the pilgrims left for the accident site. Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Rajinder Kataria contacted the Uttarkashi District Magistrate Saurabh Jain for retrieval of the bodies.
“A team of four officials, led by Manesar Tehsildar K.S. Dhaka, has been sent to the spot to assist the family members through the legal formalities of taking their kins’ bodies back home,” Kataria said.
While the relatives have left for Uttrakashi, the women in the families have not been informed of the deaths. The pilgrims’ group was supposed to bring ‘Kanwar’ from Gomukh.
Those feared to be dead are aged between 16 and 25 years old. Among the probable dead are two sons of an army officer, Pawan, who is an engineer, and Govind, a student of second-year engineering.

{{/usCountry}}The touring pilgrims’ group also included two drivers, two cooks and a photographer. District administration is said to be keeping a close watch on the relief work going on and has assured the bereaved families of all help possible.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the victims. “Although their loss cannot be compensated, we will do whatever we can to help the families and thus are giving compensation to the next of kin of the deceased,” he said.
