An image showing three young men allegedly cutting up beef at Kendriya Hindi Sansthan campus in Agra on Friday has triggered a controversy. Officials of the institute have denied the incident.
The image – in which three foreign students can be seen chopping meat allegedly in the hostel – was widely shared on WhatsApp, leading to the city magistrate Rekha S Chauhan and assistant superintendent Anurag Vats visiting the campus.
Dr CK Tripathi, institute registrar, denied that such an activity could have taken place on campus, which is run by the ministry of human resource development, but identified two of the people in the photograph as enrolled students, hailing from Bulgaria and Turkey.
Talking to Hindustan Times, the registrar said an eight-member committee was set up on Friday night. Prima facie, it appeared that no such thing was organised at the institute’s hostel, he said. He claimed this was a conspiracy to malign the image of the institute.

“The photo went viral on social media and on investigation, it was learnt that such (a) party had not taken place last (Friday) night. We have to enquire if such a beef party had taken place earlier and in this regard, the district magistrate, in consultation with city magistrate, would constitute an enquiry committee,” Vats said, adding, “We are awaiting the report from the institute.”
