With sailors from the age of seven participating in the Regatta, the race officials are geared up well for conducting an incident free event. Winds remained steady from the North mostly at about 10 knots going to 15 or 18 knots occasionally, a press release by the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association (TNSA) and the Yachting Association of India (YAI) said here today.

Harris and Mahesh, who are holding American passports but living in the city, will be representing USA, said Shantha Ravikumar, spokesperson of both TNSA and YAI.

This is not an event recognized by the National Federations of USA. Sailors, like Indians always compete in overseas events with an Indian tag. These Indian sailors give their entry going through the websites and pursue the sport, she said.
