CONGRESS TODAY staged a walkout from the Assembly to protest against the State Government’s failure to effectively curb the Gadaria gang menace despite spending a lot on the police’ operation against him.
Congress MLA Arif Aqueel sought to know whether the Gadria dacoit gang was behind the massacre of 13 people at village Bhanwarpura in Gwalior-Chambal division on October 29, 2004, the crimes committed by the dacoit gang, the quantum of money the government spent on operation against the gang and police officials responsible for the department’s failure in nabbing the gang.
Arif Aqueel sought to know what action the police had taken against the dacoit gang in connection with the murder of informer’s nephew. In his reply, Minister of State for Home Nagendra Singh admitted that the gang had massacred people on the given date. He, however, added that an operation against the gang continued in a planned way.
Though it is true that the police have not been fully successful, whatever the police have achieved so far is commendable.
Nagendra Singh said the amount was spent on various things like transportation, salary etc.
Not content with the reply, the Congress member objected to the Minister’s praise for the police personnel. The government had spent crores of rupees on the operation against the gang and yet it was not able to curb the gang’s menace.

{{/usCountry}}Congress’ Ramniwas Rawat said the gang’s terror resulted in educational institutions unannounced closure and paralysing health services.
Leader Opposition Jamuna Devi satirically asked if the police operation would eliminate the gang or shield it. Speaker Ishwardas Rohani rebuked the leader describing it out-of- context question.
Congress’ Govind Singh and Samajvadi Party’s Dr Sunilam also tried to corner the treasury bench on the gang issue. Later, the Opposition Congress members staged a walkout.
