Woman and son found dead in city flat in Kochi

Police have begun investigations into the death of 50-year-old woman and her 11 year-old son, whose bodies were found in a highly decomposed state from a flat in the heart of the city on Wednesday.

Police have begun investigations into the death of 50-year-old woman and her 11 year-old son, whose bodies were found in a highly decomposed state from a flat in the heart of the city on Wednesday.

Police said the bodies are suspected to be a week old.

The deaths came to light after the woman, Geetha's husband, Valson, arrived here from Dubai yesterday morning after all efforts to contact his wife on her phone failed.

On reaching the flat in the posh Panampilly nagar area, it was found to be locked from inside and bad smell emnating. Valson, a chartered accountant in a Gulf firm, immediately contacted police.

The bodies of the mother and son, Akash, a sixth standard student of a private school here, were found on the bed.

Police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The bodies have been sent to Alapuzha medical college for post mortem.
