“We have information that women terrorists are waiting to infiltrate into J&K,” he said, in response to a question on the possibility of the involvement of women in the Pulwama encounter.

A senior army officer said: “Women arouse less suspicion. Searching and questioning them are also quite complex.” So far, women have served as informers for terrorists or provided shelter in India. The officer added that attacks by women brought publicity.

Many terror groups have used women for strikes. Palestinian militants have sent female bombers to strike Israeli targets. At one stage, a third of LTTE’s cadres were women.

On the issue of Taliban entering India, Kapoor said: “As far as the army is concerned, there is no trace of Taliban.”
