According to the organisers of the Sangam, this was the first big convention of global religious leaders being held in India.
“The message of unity among all religions should spread throughout the world from this convention,” said Indresh Kumar, organiser of Dharam Sanskriti Sangam said.
He said holding such meet was necessary at a time when terrorism, intolerance, violence, crime had become an order of the day.
“We have invited several religious leaders from different parts of the world like Sri Lanka, Bhutan, China, Indonesia, Nepal, Thiland and other countries,” Kumar said.
He added that most of the invitees arrived and the function would begin on Saturday.
Inaugurated: An exhibition, Bharat Vanshiya Sanatan Dharma Sanskriti Sangam Pradarshni’, was inaugurated at Saint Atulananad Residential Academy here on Friday.
The exhibition is being held to raise awareness among the people about the closeness of different cultures in Asian countries.
Prominent dignitaries including Swami Bramha Deo from Trinidad, Swami Budhacharan from Thailand, saint Vigyan Deo of Vihangam Yog, S Koblan from Indonesia, K Vimal from Shrilanka and Mayor of Varanasi Kaushlendra Singh spoke on the subject.
A map depicting the importance of Budhism in different countries was also displayed in the exhibition.
