As yet another accident on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway claimed three lives on Wednesday, the city police blamed the management company for not taking adequate measures to ensure safety of commuters.
“The company should put signage in case a vehicle has broken down. The driver of the car couldn’t see vehicle parked at the fast moving lane and rammed into it,” a police officer said.
The remarks came after three youths were killed and one was severely injured when their car hit a stationary dumper on the Expressway early Wednesday. The Expressway management firm has been facing criticism for laxity of service due to frequent fatal accidents earlier. Police said the car was probably at the speed of 100 km/hr. The accident took place as the dumper was wrongly parked on the extreme right lane and was not removed by the patrolling team of the DS constructions.
The police had to use gas cutter to take out the bodies from car. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered at the city police station and hunt is on to arrest the driver of the dumper, Subhash who hails from Daultabad.
The concessionaire firm in a statement said: “It was apparently a case of overspeeding. The car did not apply brakes as there were no skid marks on the road. The Expressway corridor control room received information of the accident at 0454 hrs and the emergency assistance team reached the site around 5am.”

The Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway corridor control team had been patrolling the expressway throughout the night and when it had passed the site at 3:15am and again after 4 am there was no dumper spotted at the site. It is expected that the dumper would have broken down at the site after 4am.”
An eyewitness told HT that the dumper was parked there for more than an hour.
