Tripura governor Tathagata Roy on Friday said all those who attended the last rites of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon were potential terrorists who must now be keenly watched by the intelligence agencies."Intelligence shd keep a tab on all (expt relatives & close friends) who assembled bfr Yakub Memon's corpse. Many are potential terrorists," (sic) he tweeted.
In another, the 70-year-old governor said intelligence kepeing a tab on Memon's mouners is preventing terror.As his tweets sparked a row, the governor said that he is only concerned about the security. " When I suggested 'intelligence keeping a tab',I mentiond NO COMMUNITY. So how come I'm accused of being 'communal bigot'? Guilty conscience?," he said in another tweet.
Memon was hanged at Napur's central jail on July 30, after the Supreme Court, in an unprecedented late night hearing, refused to stay his execution. His mercy petitions were earlier rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee and Maharashtra governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao.

{{/usCountry}}Jail administration handed over Yakub’s body to his elder brother, Suleiman and cousin, Usman Memon, after the family gave an undertaking that they would not hold demonstrations with the body and ensure a quiet burial in Mumbai.
The police also banned filming or taking photographs of the body during transportation from the airport to the burial ground to avoid any breach of law and order.
Yakub's body was taken directly to Bismillah Manzil in Mahim where his brother Suleiman Memon lives. A crowd of around 500 persons had gathered outside the building as soon as the ambulance carrying Yakub’s body arrived.
