David Coulthard, who is in India for a promotional event, said sports minister M.S. Gill did not understand Formula One.
Reacting to the sports minister’s comment that F1 was not a sport, Coulthard said: “I think it is unfortunate that your sports minister clearly does not understand F1. It is a very hi-tech sport. Which means it is not something you can do on a playground.”
“It involves machinery, skilled designers, mechanics, engineers, media and marketing. So many aspects go into making an f1 team,” he said.
“F1 is a great showcase around the world for engineering excellence. But I would suggest to your minister that if India wants to showcase the advances in the world of engineering and design, and the highly skilled work force you have here then F1 is the best place to do that.”

“I apologise if I may have gone slightly over the speed limit.”
