Nishant Patel, (35), the Youth Congress leader, who went missing last Monday and was found on Tuesday near Buddheswar crossing in Kakori, has surprisingly requested the cops not to initiate any action in the case.
"He has said that he does not suspect anyone of kidnapping him and that he doesn't want any further investigation in the case," Brij Lal, the additional director general (ADG), UP said.
Patel had arrived three weeks ago in Hardoi, 110 kilometers west of Lucknow, and checked in Hotel Utsav's room number 104.
"I do not have any idea why he is preferring to remain silent," the ADG said.
What's more, the Youth Congress leader, despite being quizzed repeatedly by the police claimed he never knew how he went missing from Hardoi and reached Kakori.
"Something appears to be amiss somewhere as he could not tell how he went missing, how he got an injury on his head and how he arrived in Lucknow and was found sitting barefoot on a footpath," a cop said.
Nishant, son of senior Congress leader and former Gujarat minister Hasmukh Patel, was spotted by Ram Prakash Gupta, a property dealer, who instantly recognized him, primarily because the media had given extensive coverage to his mysterious disappearance from Hardoi.

Nishant was made the party's returning officer for the Youth Congress organizational polls in Misrikh.
