It was a real test for RCB as Kohli misfired. To their dismay, it happened in the first knock-out game - Qualifier 1 -- of IPL 9 on Tuesday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

And the home fans’ pressed the panic button as RCB’s top-order collapsed like a pack of cards. At 68 for six after 9.4 overs, RCB were down for the count. But with de Villiers at the crease, the contest was still on.

After overs 15 and 16 were collected for 30 runs, the equation came down to 33 off 24 balls. From there, with his name reverberating in the stands, de Villiers made it a cakewalk.

Twitter users had a lot to say about the match:

About Raina’s struggles with the short ball.

About Virat’s duck and how furious he was with himself.

About RCB’s batting collapse and Dhawal Kulkarni’s spell of four wickets for 14 runs.

About de Villiers and the infamous ‘chokers’ tag given to the South African cricket team.

And about the de Villiers-Kohli love affair.

There was an assortment of other jokes as well.
