Official of Jaipur metro rail corporation (JMRC) is hoping for a clear mandate for the project from state government after May16.

“We are going to incur an estimated `5 crore on upkeep and maintenance of the stations in next two years which includes eleven stations on the metro track under phase-1A,” a highly placed JMRC official said. “Though the date of commercial operation will be decided once we get the clearance from commissioner of Railway safety and go ahead from state government for commercial operations,” he added.

The metro project in Jaipur is planned to be completed in two phases. The 12.6 km long first phase will have 11 stations from Mansarovar and Bari Chaupar including three underground and eight elevated stations.

JMRC already got its three dozen employee trained at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and metro security force is also ready to take charge. The civil work, however, is still to be finished.

Under the first phase-IA, Metro train would run between Mansarovar and Chandpole covering a distance of 9.718 km. Similarly under the first phase-IB, it is proposed that Metro train would be run from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar within the distance of 2.349 km.

The total expenditure incurred on this project would be about 3,149 crores. There will be three underground and 8 alleviated stations in the first phase.

Second phase of metro is being planned from Sitapura to Ambabari on which around `6,581 crore are estimated to be incurred.
Its distance would be 23.099 km and there would be 5 underground and 15 alleviated stations.

“Second phase is also in advance stage of planning and can be implemented after getting go ahead from state government,” a JMRC official said.
