Rajasthan government on Thursday made a provision for a revenue and expenditure audit of three power distribution companies (discoms) in the state and initiate action against officials found guilty indulging in financial irregularities.
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who also holds the finance portfolio, while announcing the provision said an incentive scheme will be started for discom officials doing good work.
Replying to a debate on the finance bill and appropriation bill in the assembly, Raje said an audit to stop transmission and distribution losses of electricity would also be taken up by her government.
She said the government has made provisions to compensate farmers whose crops were affected in the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorms in the state.
Raje said in addition to the relief being provided by the state government, the legislators have been asked to contribute Rs. 20 lakh and above while MPs have been requested to deposit Rs. 50 lakh to the CM’s relief fund.
She said fees paid by farmers will also be waived. The compounding charges for farmers for electricity theft have been decreased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 1,000, Raje said. New upper district magistrate courts would be set up in Pali, Barmer, Nagaur, Jodhpur, Abu Road in Sirohi, Medta in Nagaur, Tijara in Alwar, Nibahera in Chittorgarh, and Sagwara in Dungarpur.

Announcing a Health Route Scheme for districts where proper health facilities are not available, Raje said a mobile health vehicle would made available for people on specified routes. The scheme would be launched in one district on pilot basis, she said without naming the district.
Raje said to promote tourism in the state, 3D mapping of Amer fort, Hawa Mahal, Udaipur city palace, and Kumbhalgarh fort would be taken up. She further said students who complete ITI courses after passing Class 8 and 10 would be given certificates of Class 10 and Class 12 respectively after appearing for corresponding exam by qualifying two papers in Hindi and English.
The CM said the state has got three coal blocks, which would help in power generation at the Chhabra and Kali Sindh power plants in the state.
