President Pratibha Patil arrived in Kolkata on Saturday on a two day visit to West Bengal, her maiden visit to the state after assuming the post.

The President, who arrived in a sepcial IAF plane, was received at the NSC Bose International airport by the Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee.

Patil, who was presented a guard of honour at the airport, left for Rajbhavan immediately thereafter.
The President will inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of the Bi-Centennial of the Asiatic Society in Kolkata on Saturday and the 150th anniversary celebration of Joy Krishna Public Library at Uttarpara in Hooghly district on Sunday.
