According to an August 7 report on Guinnessworldrecords.com, her striking, raven tresses trail along the ground behind her like a magnificent black cape, measuring an astonishing 271.50 cm (8 ft 10 in). To put that phenomenal length into context, her hair is just a single centimetre shorter than history’s tallest man, Robert Wadlow, who stood at 272 cm (8 ft 11.1 in). Verified in Haldwani in April, Renu’s measurement dethrones the previous titleholder, Ukraine’s Aliia Nasyrova, whose hair measured 257.33 cm (8 ft 5.3 in).
For Renu, the decade-long journey to this historic milestone was driven by cultural pride and personal discipline. “I have been growing my hair continuously since 2015. In Indian culture, long hair is considered a symbol of extreme beauty and tradition, which is what inspired me to grow it so long,” she shared with Guinnessworldrecords.com, reflecting on the commitment that shaped her life. “I have never cut my hair since 2015.”

Instead, her approach relies heavily on traditional, organic self-care. “It takes a lot of patience to maintain long hair. I spend hours washing and detangling my hair,” Renu said, opening up about the extensive care routine involved. “My secret is completely natural. I stay away from chemical products and also share the secrets of chemical-free homemade hair oils and homemade shampoos I make on my YouTube channel," she added.
