Listicle: 10 onscreen homes we want to move in to
  • Barbie’s Dreamhouse
Barbie (2023). This could have been cringe: Heart-shaped bed, sequined coverlet, a slide that leads from bedroom to pool, a closet that has a new outfit ready every day. Instead, it shows us what fun female-centric design can be. Plus all of Barbie’s besties live within walking distance. Who wouldn’t want this?
  • Lara Jean Covey’s room
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018). Clothes and knick-knacks and books and letters everywhere, but still, so chic, so perfectly styled. The turquoise wallpaper had swirling floral motifs. The walls had golden fairy lights and strings of photos. The furniture was yellow. Kitty once pityingly accused her older sister of never going out. With a room like that, we’d stay in too.
  • Tahani Al-Jamil’s mansion
The Good Place (2016 - 2020). Through every version of the afterlife, Tahani somehow always ended up with her fountains and crystal chandeliers and silk sheets, and a rambling mansion. It’s not a set. That’s a real Beverly Hills home, with wings and floors digitally added in. Not a bad place (Ha!) in which to have an existential crisis.
  • The Winbury’s beach house
The Perfect Couple (2024). Summerland, the fictional Massachusetts property from the series, is posh, overflowing with hydrangeas. Of course, there’s that minor matter about a murder. But the sailboats, Adirondack chairs and pastel palettes were so soothing, we almost forgot about the plot. The perfect couple may be a myth. But the house is #RealEstateGoals.
  • The Bridgerton estate
Bridgerton (2020 - ). Fans will argue over whether #Polin or #Kanthony is the better ship, but everyone agrees that the Bridgerton mansion is the actual catch. It’s draped in lavender wisteria, the rooms are done up in pale cream, dove grey, and Wedgewood blue, and there’s grand wainscoting and plush settees. None of it is too pretty to do naughty things in!
  • Lim Joo-kyung’s skylight room
True Beauty (2020). Her school life was occasionally traumatic. At least she had this room to cushion herself in when things spun out of control. Joo-kyung, a horror movie fan, was an obsessive collector of merch and trinkets. So, skulls and zombie plushies jostle for space with teddy bears, makeup compacts, and crochet doilies. An odd contrast, but it works.
  • Marianne’s Italian villa
Normal People (2020). Marianne and her friends spent a dreamy summer here, having some of their most serious conversations, but also having the most fun, roaming around the countryside. The villa is an actual old farmhouse, located close to Rome. You can rent it on AirBnB for as little as 6,000 a night. If you can get a booking, that is.
  • Renata Klein’s mansion
Big Little Lies (2017 - ). That dramatic curved staircase. Those clear ocean views. The Monterey homes reflect each woman’s economic status on the show. Renata, the high-powered executive, lives right at the top, surveying her kingdom. The property is a real house in Malibu, and renting it out for shoots has become a side hustle for the owners.
  • Alice and Jack’s Palm Springs condo
Don’t Worry Darling (2022). The sunny house is a model of 1950s American suburbia. The wooden cabinets are neatly stacked with albums, the glass windows are always shiny, the crystal menagerie adds a funky, modern feel. Psychological horror aside, it’s not a bad place in which to cook (and ruin) a roast.
  • Shiv and Tom’s Tribeca penthouse
Succession (2018 - 2023). Two penthouses combined, a wraparound terrace to argue in, and views of NYC to signal that they’re richer than the rich city. Fans have pointed out that those floaty stairs are a bit nightmarish. It’s impractical, excessive and a little bit dangerous. But then, so are Shiv and Tom.
