You clearly haven’t been following my column because if you had, you’d know by now that I don’t believe in rules for style other than:

• Make an effort, and • Express yourself!

Oversized clothes are having a moment, but beware—they can look either incredibly stylish or horribly sloppy. The thin line that separates the two is: intention & execution. Looking “effortless” is a misleading term—it actually does require some effort! That means choosing items you feel most at ease in and that best reflect your personality, making sure they’re clean and presentable, and that the end result projects an awareness and due regard of both the occasion and the environment you’re in (it’s just good manners and a show of respect, both to yourself and others).

The look you should aim for: Stylish Comfort

The look you want to avoid: Unmade Bed.
