Modi’s proposed road show on April 23 in Ranchi is aimed at creating a wave in favour of BJP’s newbie candidate Sanjay Seth, who is taking on Congress’ nominee and former union minister Subodh Kant Sahai and veteran Ranchi MP-turned-rebel independent contestant Ramtahal Choudhary.
“The prime minister will arrive in the state capital in evening. He will undertake a more than 2 km road show from airport to Birsa chowk. As per the plans, after garlanding the statue of Birsa Munda at Birsa chowk, he will go straight to Raj Bhawan (Governor’s house) for night halt. Next day on April 24, he will move to Lohardaga to address an election rally. The PM will leave the state same day after returning to Ranchi,” said BJP’s former state spokesperson Pradeep Sinha.
According to party insiders, Modi will also meet senior party leaders during his Ranchi’s stay to discuss with them poll strategies.
The saffron brigade in the state capital believe that Modi’s road show would prove to be a game changer in Ranchi Lok Sabha, which goes to polls on May 6.
“Modi’s presence in Ranchi will turn the wave in favour of BJP’s new face Sanjay Seth, who never contested any parliamentary or assembly election. Moreover, his road show will also negate Choudhary’s presence in the fray,” said a senior BJP leader.

Reacting to the development, Seth told reporters ‘it would be god gift for him’ that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be walking the streets of Ranchi.
The prime minister will also address an election rally in Lohardaga’s BS College ground at 11 am. Lohardaga’s sitting MP and union minister of state for tribal affairs Sudharshan Bhagat is trying his luck for the third consecutive term from this parliamentary constituency where voting will take place on April 29.
Chief minister Raghubar Das on April 18 had stayed in Lohardaga to oversee the preparations for the PM’s rally. He had addressed two public gatherings in Bishunpur and Sisai, both assembly constituencies under Lohardaga Lok Sabha seats. He had also taken out a foot march, as a show of strength, in district’s Peshrar block, an erstwhile Maoists hotbed.
“Four and half years back, the region comprising Lohardaga and Latehar districts were heavily infested with Maoists insurgency lacking all short of developments including road, electricity and others. Now, these districts can boast of development,” Das had said adding that people want to see Modi again as Prime Minister.
