Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Uttarakhand to vote in single phase on April 11
Election to five Lok Sabha constituencies in the state will be held on April 11, chief election commissioner (CEC) of India Sunil Arora announced in New Delhi on Sunday.
In Uttarakhand, the last date for filing nomination papers by candidates is March 25 while the date of scrutiny of the nominations is March 26.
According to the office of chief electoral officer of Uttarakhand, the total number of voters in the mountain state as on January 31 this year, is 7717,126, including 88,600 voters from armed forces.
With the announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct also came into effect across the country.
Announcing the schedule for 2019 general election, the election commission of India said the ‘voter verifiable paper audit trail’ (VVPAT) will be used in all polling stations across the country this time.
The first phase of the Lok Sabha polls will be held on April 11, second on April 18, third on April 23 and fourth on April 29, fifth on May 6, sixth on May 12 and seventh phase on May 19. The votes will be counted and the results declared on May 23.
