Feature Film by IMS-BHU prof on stroke prevention to be screened in Stockholm

‘Phir Wahi Din’ is the brainchild of a neurologist at IMS-BHU prof Vijay Nath Mishra. He will present a copy of the film to museum at the house of Alfred Nobel on October 14.

A feature film creating awareness on ways to prevent stroke will be screened at Stockholm—the hometown of noted inventor Alfred Bernhard Nobel—on October 13.

‘Phir Wahi Din’ is the brainchild a neurologist at IMS-BHU prof Vijay Nath Mishra. He will present a copy of the film to museum at the house of Alfred Nobel on October 14. Nobel had died of a stroke in Italy at the age of 63 in 1896.

On Monday, the film was screened in Berlin in presence of noted neurologists, psychiatrists and other dignitaries. Mishra said everyone lauded the effort and appealed to the people to create awareness about it.

After watching the film, Prof Dr med Armin von Gunten of Germany said it was a meaningful effort which will create awareness on preventive measures of the disease across the world, the IMS-BHU professor said.

“This is a great and significant effort to make masses aware of dos and don’ts in case of stroke. The short film needs to be dubbed in different languages in order that the patients across the world can take advantage of it,” he quoted Gunten as saying.

“This is two-hour-twenty-minute feature film aimed at creating awareness on preventive measures to keep stroke away. Simultaneously, it also tries to dispel myths and superstitions attached to the disease,” he told HT before leaving for Berlin on October 7.

Mishra has planned some 1000 screenings of the movie in rural pockets to create awareness among the villagers so that misconceptions about the disease could be minimised. He screened the movie in a Mirzapur village on Thursday last. The film was also launched in Varanasi a few days back. Narendra Acharya has written and directed the film.
