UP animal husbandry minister Awadh Pal Singh, who is facing charges of being involved in a murder case, on Sunday said he would not resign and blamed the Samajwadi Party (SP) instead.
The police are yet to register a criminal case against him despite the order from Etah chief judicial magistrate Buddhi Sagar Mishra.
The case relates to three murders in Jainthra, Etah district, on June 10 - when jeweller Vijay Verma, his son Mithun and security guard Santosh Singh were killed.
Special superintendent of police Laxmi Narain told Hindustan Times on the phone: "There was no specific order for the registration of a case against the minister and what the court has said is to investigate the case. The police will investigate the case in the light of the facts in the application."
The Etah chief judicial magistrate had ordered an FIR against the minister and his brother Chandra Pratap Singh, a member of the legislative council, on Saturday.
The minister said SP leaders were behind the murders and neither he nor his family members had anything to do with them.
