Around 500 officials and employees of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments will get their last chance to change the cadre to either state when a concerned committee meets in December to resolve issues pending since the creation of Uttarakhand from the former in 2000.
Some staff of Uttar Pradesh was sent to Uttarakhand during its creation, following which several personnel had raised requests to be transferred to either state.
The Centre had set up a committee to resolve issues pertaining to the change which will meet in December for the final time, following which the committee will be wound up.
Staff of either government has been asked to submit their requests by November 30, failing which their requests will not be entertained.
“The Union government wants to wind up a committee set up by the department of personnel and training (DOPT) to decide about the transfer of personnel. A last opportunity is, therefore, being given to the personnel who have been asked to submit a request about change of cadre,” a senior UP government official said.
Uttarakhand was carved out of the northern hilly regions of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, following which several issues, including transfer and distribution of personnel and resources, besides the settling of dues, have been pending between the two states.

{{/usCountry}}So far, top officials of the two states have met a number of times, the latest being the one between chief ministers Yogi Adityanath of UP and Trivendra Singh Rawat of Uttarakhand — both of whom hail from Pauri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand — on April 10, soon after the BJP stormed to power in the two states.
Before that, the two state chief secretaries had met in New Delhi on February 2, 2015.
