“The SP government had pushed west UP region into the fire of communal riots. The party has a blot of riot on it and that is why it has fielded its candidate on the symbol of another party,” Yogi said addressing a rally in Shamli in support of BJP candidate for Kairana Lok Sabha by-election Mriganka Singh.

The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has fielded Tabassum Hasan who is being supported by the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress. Kairana will go to poll on May 28.

Yogi said the BJP would not bow down in front of those who supported terrorism.

Raising the issues of Muzaffarnagar riots and alleged Hindu exodus from Kairana, Yogi said: “BJP leader and former MP late Hukum Singh had raised these issues. Soon after coming to power, we made efforts to improve law and order in the region.”

He said the criminals were nailed in the BJP regime and police would continue their drive against criminals to ensure peaceful atmosphere in the state.

He said camps of provincial armed constabulary (PAC) would be set up in Kairana and Kandhala towns to check the activities of anti-social elements.

Recalling the contribution of former prime minister and farmers’ leader Chaudhary Charan Singh, Yogi said his government celebrated Singh’s birth anniversary as the BJP understood the sacrifices he made for the cause of farmers.

“Anyone trying to exploit the farmers will be treated as the BJP government’s enemy. The government has launched special schemes for the welfare of farmers,” he said.

“The state government has initiated steps for the welfare of farmers and youth. We are creating employment opportunities. Closed sugar mills will be made operational in the region,” Yogi said.
