It was a coincidence.

For most of us, wearing the same outfit as someone else at an event is probably a fashion faux pas. But when six guests showed up at a wedding wearing identical dresses, it was a laughter riot.

Six women turned up at a wedding in Sydney, Australia wearing similar dresses and no, they were not the bridesmaids.

Debbie Speranza, a friend of the bride, posted a photo to Forever New’s Facebook page on September 17 that became an instant hit and was shared over 1500 times. It was liked by nearly 49,000 people.

Instead of avoiding each other through the wedding, all six women proved to be excellent sport and obliged for a picture alongside the bride Julia Mammone.

Speranza, who dubbed herself and the five others as #backupbridesmaids, also had a suggestion for the clothing brand, “You really should start a bridal registry so that your customers can enquire whether anyone else has purchased one of your dresses for the same event.”

A Facebook user commented on the post describing the situation as her “worst nightmare”.

“They are in absolute hysterics, thank God I’m surrounded by women with a great sense of humour,” the bride told Today.
