A 32-year-old motorcycle rider died as he crashed into the divider of the eastern express highway (EEH) in Vikhroli on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Vikhroli police, the motorcycle rider, Sunil Bhagat, a resident of Thane, was heading towards T-Junction when he lost control of his vehicle. The police said Bhagat was trying to overtake a truck from the wrong side.
The officers said Bhagat could not gauge the distance between the truck and the divider. Speeding, Bhagat could not apply the brakes in time and crashed into the divider.
“Bhagat suffered severe injuries. He was admitted to Rajawadi hospital, where he died in the evening,” said a police officer from the Vikhroli police station.
The police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against Bhagat.
“We have asked the RTO to check Bhagat’s speed at the time of the accident,” said the officer.
