In a first, 4,048 students from civic schools in Kalyan-Dombivli will visit Mumbai in batches. During their visit, the students will be shown 14 important landmarks including Byculla zoo, Taraporewala aquarium and Gateway of India. About 6,000 children study in 60 civic schools run by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).
“Till date, we have never taken our students on a school trip. This is for the first time they will visit 14 different sites. I thought the students should first explore Mumbai, which has several historical places,” said Vaijanti Gholap, chairperson, education department, Kalyan-Dombivli KDMC.
