Ganeshotsav: 60 sweet shops booked for overcharging
A total 101 inspections were held at various shops and 60 shopkeepers were booked either for smudging the declaration, overcharging and short-delivery.
The Legal Metrology Organisation (LMO) registered at least 60 cases of overcharging, short-delivery and wrong declaration against sweet and decoration shops just before the start of Ganeshotsav.

A total 101 inspections were held at various shops and 60 shopkeepers were booked either for smudging the declaration, overcharging and short-delivery.
“It is often noticed that shopkeepers indulge in wrong practices for a couple of days just before the festival to rake up profits in lesser time. This is taking advantage of the festive mood. So, we raided the shops just before the festival,” said Amitabh Gupta, LMO controller.
Furthermore, the LMO has appealed to consumers to complain against any retailer if they are duped. Residents can reach the department either by phone (022-22886666) or e-mail (dclmms@yahoo.in). Representatives can also be reached on the Facebook page Legal Metrology Maharashtra consumer grievances.
