Army Recruitment Board exam paper leak: Cops checking bank accounts of 18 accused

The Thane crime branch, which arrested 18 people for leaking the Army Recruitment Board exam paper, is investigating the money trail and is looking into the bank accounts of the accused to check for recent transactions. The accused were allegedly paid Rs4 lakh to Rs5 lakh for each paper leaked.

The 18 accused, who were arrested from Nagpur, Pune and Goa, will be brought to a Thane court on Monday afternoon.

“We have alerted the cyber cell about the accused. Cyber cell officials will help us trace the money trail. We are in the process of tracing the whereabouts of the accused and are checking if there are more people involved in the leak. We suspect that this is an inside job,” said a police inspector from the Thane crime branch.

The social networking accounts of the accused are also being looked into.

The 350 people who were detained are still being questioned.

On Sunday morning, the Thane crime branch arrested 18 people and detained 350 students from Pune, Goa and Nagpur for leaking the Army Recruitment Board exam. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided all three places simultaneously. The exam was to be held at on Sunday at 9am, but has been postponed to next month.
