The Bandra police have arrested a 34-year-old call centre employee for trying to cheat a mobile shop owner of ₹30,000. The arrested accused, Abhishek Dev, visited a mobile shop at Pali Naka in Bandra (West) seeking to purchase a phone worth ₹30,000. He told the complainant, Darshan, that he would make the payment through an online transaction. He then used a fake banking app to make it seem like the transaction had been completed.

Darshan refused to let Dev leave the shop until he received a message from his bank. After waiting for twenty minutes, Darshan alerted the cops. Investigations revealed that the accused had previously duped shop owners in Vashi and Sion using the same modus operandi, said police inspector Sanjeev Bhole of the Bandra police station.
