In a bid to promote cycling in the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will create free parking space for 470 cycles in A- ward, which include the busiest areas in the city along with the CST and Churchgate railway stations.

In a bid to promote cycling in the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will create free parking space for 470 cycles in A- ward, which include the busiest areas in the city along with the CST and Churchgate railway stations.

The BMC has recently opened tenders for the already existing 47 pay and park sites in A -ward. The parking area is expected to cater to the parking of 7,197 vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers in addition to free parking space for 470 bicycles.

The area includes some of the high footfall areas like Hutatmata chowk, Mantralaya, CST, Churchgate, Fort, Gateway of India, Ballard estate and Nariman point.

On the occasion of the ‘cycle to work’ event organised to mark World Environment Day, civic chief Ajoy Mehta had said, “We are working on a parking authority for Mumbai which looks at parking not just for cars, but for cycles also. It will create an environment for people to cycle to work.”
