Locals, mostly tribals, visiting the Bank of Maharashtra’s Pelhar branch in Vasai to exchange demonetised notes and withdraw new currency resorted to a sit-in on Wednesday morning after they were told that the bank was out of cash. Though the bank had issued tokens on Tuesday, it is yet to handover cash to these people. Bank officials claimed there was shortage of notes of all denominations. Locals said they will continue their protest till the time the bank doesn’t hand them over their hard-earned money.
