Drunk man on his way to Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai leans out of train, falls to death

Chouhan went to the train door to spit something he was chewing, but his hands slipped and he missed the pole.

A 21-year-old man fell to his death from a running local train between Andheri and Vile Parle railway stations on Monday, after he went to the door to spit. According to the Andheri government railway police (GRP), the deceased, Sagar Singh Chouhan, a resident of Marol, Andheri (East), was inebriated at the time of the accident.

One of the friends that Chouhan was travelling with told the police that they were on their way to Siddhivinayak temple.

“At first, the injury at the back of Chouhan’s head suggested that he may have gotten hit by a pole. However, after recording his friends’ statements, we learnt what had transpired. Chouhan wanted to spit out something that he was chewing, and when he went towards the door, he tried to get a hold of the pole. However, his hands slipped, missed the pole, and he fell out,” an Andheri GRP official said.

The police has reported an accidental death report, and the body has been handed over to the family members.

According to the GRP, nine more people died and eight people suffered injuries on the Mumbai suburban railway line on Monday .
