Two employees of a private school in Bhiwandi were arrested on Tuesday for swindling Rs35 lakh from the school’s account. Their deceit came to light after an in-house accountant audited monetary transactions for the ongoing fiscal. Based on his findings, a case was field at the Nizampura police station on Monday.

Both the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and will be produced in the court on Wednesday. (HT file)

The accused were identified as Tajmus Seher Mobin Ansari and Asfak Mohammed Ibrahim Momin. Both are in their 30s and live in Bhiwandi. While Ansari is as a clerk, Momin works at the school’s IT department. Cops said the two were given the additional responsibility of maintaining records of financial transactions.

Senior inspector Ram Balsingh from Nizampura police station said, “As per the complainant, Ansari and Momin forged signatures and issued fake receipts in the name of their superiors. Using this modus operandi, they siphoned off Rs35 lakh between April and December 2016.”

Both Ansari and Momin were arrested on Tuesday and booked under section 408, 465, 467, 468, 471, 477A, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. They will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
