Mumbai police have capitalised on the trending topic of the day, International Yoga Day, by posting witty tweets about road safety on Twitter with that hashtag.
Addressing issues such as road rage, excessive honking and signal jumping, the Twitter handle of Mumbai police has been tweeting #TrafficAnushAasan to start a conversation about road rules. Going by the flurry of responses by citizens, the initiative seems to be a success.
“Innovative Ad! I liked it, more so as it is from law-enforcement agency of Maharashtra Govt (sic),” said Dr S N Ojha, replying to a tweet asking motorists to opt for yoga over honking as a stress-buster.

{{/usCountry}}This isn’t the only occasion the department has capitalised on. At the onset of monsoon, police used the hashtag #MonsoonRelationshipGoals to advise motorists to drive carefully. The campaign was aimed at asking motorists to refrain from speeding, signal jumping and honking.
According to figures released by the Mumbai traffic police, 13,067 cases of honking were registered in 2016 and 816 penalties were levied for pressure, musical or reverse horns. In 2015, 7,326 cases of honking were registered.
