Senior BJP MLA Anil Gote on Wednesday said that suspended IAS officer Radheshyam Mopalwar, who is facing an inquiry by special investigation team (SIT) for alleged corruption, invested his black money in a company from Kolkata.
He further alleged that seven other IAS officers also invested in the same company. Gote also released shareholding document of the company, which shows 85,000 shares in the name of Mopalwar’s relatives.
Mopalwar, who was heading chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway project, refuted allegations and said that Gote bore a grudge against him.
The BJP MLA also said he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to re-investigate Mopalwar’s role in the multi-crore fake stamp scam also known as Telgi scam. He said the main accused, Abdul Karim Telgi, had disclosed the details of the modus operandi used by Mopalwar in the scam.
Gote, an MLA from Dhule in north Maharashtra, is also an accused in the Telgi case and was in prison. He is currently out on bail.
He said Mopalwar had disproportionate assets and he had shared the details with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), all central investigation agencies and the chief minister.

{{/usCountry}}“Mopalwar and other officers have invested in a company to hide their disproportionate assets. Soon after their investments, the loss-making company became profitable. Some of the officers have also been buying land for the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway project,” he alleged.
Mopalwar said, “I was the complainant in the Telgi scam and he is still an accused. Anyone with a vengeful mind can make all kinds of allegations. I deny all of them as they are baseless and incorrect.
He said, “I have made some small investments, which may not be more than Rs 5-10 lakh. I have to check my accounts.”
“It is a standard practice of criminals to accuse complainants of being a party to the crime,” he added.
