The civic body will soon connect Lal Bahudur Shastri (LBS) Marg with Bhandup railway station, giving an alternative exit to commuters heading towards LBS Road for smooth passenger movement.

Currently, there is just one entry/exit at Bhandup station for commuters travelling towards LBS Marg, which leads to overcrowding near the station area.

This proposed road will directly connect platform number 1 of the station to LBS Marg.

The road will go through Jayesh Industrial Estate, which is adjacent to the railway station. While constructing the road, the civic body will also focusing on widening it.

Senior officials from the BMC said that commuters presently have to pass through a narrow road near the station to reach LBS Marg, which adds on to the existing traffic on the road.

The total length of the road proposed will be around 300 meters.

The civic administration is awaiting a final nod from general body of the BMC, after which the work on the road will be initiated.

Meanwhile, the civic body will soon initiate the widening of the 21km-long LBS Marg project to a 30m wide road from the existing 10-15m.

The widening project will cost the civic body a whopping Rs400 crore.
