Mumbai city news: The police recovered six kinds of drugs worth Rs 2lakh from the accused

The Dindoshi police arrested four members of a family on Friday for allegedly selling drugs to aspiring models, college students and other youngsters in Malad and Goregaon. The police recovered six kinds of drugs, which include mephedrone, Corex and Phinrex (banned cough syrups), hashish, marijuana and other drugs worth Rs 2lakh from the accused.

According to the police, the neighbours were aware that the family was into drugs business. (HT)

The accused have been identified as Vijay Shyam Parmar, 27, his mother Geeta Shyam Parmar, 47, wife Shalu Ramesh Parmar, 19, and sister in-law Marta Raju Parmar, 21. Marta’s husband Raju is absconding. All have been booked under the NDPS Act.

According to the police, the neighbours were aware that the family was into drugs business. “We got a tip off and a police team led by assistant inspector Nair conducted a raid at the accused’s place in BMC colony, Santosh Nagar area in Goregaon (east). We nabbed Ramesh and found 60g of mephedrone in his possession” said senior inspector Rajaram Vhanmane of Dindoshi police station.

“We searched the entire house and recovered several contrabands like corex and phinrex cough syrups, hashish, and marijuana. The other members were asked to visit the police station and after verifying their roles, all four were arrested,” added Vhanmane. They were produced in court and remanded in police custody till May 29.

Ramesh Parmar Raju are both history sheeters and have six cases registered against each at Dindoshi police station, added Vhanmane.
