The Mumbai police recently arrested two men for allegedly possessing charas worth Rs 7.20 lakh.

Acting on a tip off received by the anti-narcotics cell (ANC), a team from the Ghatkopar unit of ANC arrested the duo near the mother dairy bus stop at Nehru Nagar, Kurla East.
About 1.8kg of Charas worth Rs7.2 lakh was found on them. A FIR has been registered against them under section 8(c) of the Narcotic Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
One of the accused was identified as Nissar Ahmad Bhat,33, a fruit-seller hailing from Sangrama Village in Baramulla district, Kashmir. About 900 grams of Charas was found on him.
The other accused, Illias Ismail Shaikh, 38, is also a fruit vendor, and is a resident of Kousa, Mumbra. He also possessed 900 grams of the drug. The ANC is probing the source of the drugs and whether the accused have a criminal background.
