Mumbai police detain woman for indecent behaviour at Marine Drive, lookout for a foreigner

They said that many locals were even recording a video of the couple on their mobile phones

The Marine Drive police detained an Indian woman and are on the lookout for a foreigner after both of them were found allegedly misbehaving on the divider near a bus stop towards Nariman Point on Friday.

While the woman was detained for interrogation, the foreigner managed to run away.

Police officers rushed to the promenade after few passers-by complained that the couple were behaving indecently. They said that many locals were even recording a video of the couple on their mobile phones.

“We think that the woman is mentally unstable as she was unable to tell us her address or contact number of any of her relatives,” said Manoj Kumar Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (zone 1).

Officers said that the woman first told them she was from Goa. Later, the woman again mentioned a different address and was unable to answer questions properly. Women police officers tried to dress her before detaining her but she refused. “We have sent the woman to the Chembur women’s rescue home. We don’t know her residential address and trying to search for it,” said Sharma.
