Mumbai police nab Nigerian drug peddler, recover 118g cocaine worth Rs5.90 lakh

After compiling information for the past six months, the Mumbai crime branch’s anti-narcotics cell (ANC) arrested a 41-year-old Nigerian national on Friday for allegedly selling commercial quantities of drugs in Lokhandwala, Andheri.

Bandra ANC officials said the accused, Ajah Osi Andrew, is a Mira Road resident. “We recovered 118 g of cocaine worth Rs5.90 lakh,” said Shivdeep Lande, deputy commissioner of police, ANC.

This year, the ANC arrested 31 Nigerian nationals for drug peddling, compared to the 23 arrested last year. “We had received information that a Nigerian national sells commercial quantities of drugs to peddlers who sell it to individuals,” said an official.

Officials laid a trap and nabbed him at Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri (West). Police said they are trying to ascertain if Andrew has a prior criminal record and what the purpose of his visit to India was. They will also try to find out when he arrived in the country and if he is part of a gang of foreign nationals who peddle drugs.
