Mumbai ‘sex and drugs’ cult: No proof that leader drugged women, say cops

Mumbai city news: The women told police that Sunil Kulkarni had neither given them any medicines nor sexually exploited them

The Mumbai crime branch investigating the alleged sex and drugs cult run by Sunil Kulkarni, said it did not find evidence that he had drugged any women.

Kulkarni was arrested in April, after a Malad-based couple approached the Bombay high court, claiming that he had drugged and sexually exploited their daughters.

However, the crime branch filed a charge sheet on Saturday, saying the women said Kulkarni had neither given them any medicines nor sexually exploited them. Following this, the charges of drug abuse registered against Kulkarni were dropped.

Unit 9 of the crime branch submitted the 300-page charge sheet at the esplanade mansion court, said police inspector Mahesh Desai. “The police searched Kulkarni’s Bandra residence and recovered sleeping pills, a pen drive and pornographic books. However, they did not find any evidence of sexual abuse or human trafficking” said a crime branch officer.
