Of 85,520 students who were allotted seats in the first round of the centralised admission process (CAP) for engineering institutes, 20,783 have secured or ‘frozen’ their seats, while others hope to get a seat at the college of their choice in the next round.

Data from the directorate of technical education (DTE) shows that after the first round, 65,789 students confirmed their allotment at admission reporting centres (ARCs).
Of these, a majority (41,654) chose to ‘float’ their seats, indicating that they are looking for a better college-course combination. About 3,482 chose to ‘slide’ their seats, meaning that they want are satisfied with the college allotted to them, but want a more preferred course.
Pharmacy aspirants were even less satisfied. After the first merit list, 5,102 of 9,130 students who were allotted seats reported to ARCs. Of these, only 1,653 aspirants froze their seats.
