Pawan Hans chopper crash: Family, friends give teary-eyed farewell to Captain Katoch

While speaking to a group of pilots who were her husband’s friends, Poonam recalled that Katoch was always proud of working with Pawan Hans and was happy that he got good colleagues.

Friends and family of Captain Vijay Chand Katoch, among the seven people who died in the Pawan Hans helicopter crash on Saturday, gave him a teary-eyed farewell on Tuesday. Katoch’s daughters performed the last rites.

His wife, Poonam, said her husband enjoyed his work and was one among those who could never see anyone in pain. He had successfully served the Indian Army. Friends and colleagues remembered his ever-smiling face.

While speaking to a group of pilots who were her husband’s friends, Poonam recalled that Katoch was always proud of working with Pawan Hans and was happy that he got good colleagues.

Katoch’s body was found on Monday evening.

“The body had a severe head injury, large cuts on the lower limbs and one hand was completely crushed. We suspect that all these injuries are caused by the rotor-blades of the helicopter due to the absence of any other blade in the helicopter,” said forensic experts from Dr RN Cooper hospital.
