Rabale murder: Cops recover body parts of Worli woman, arrest fifth suspect

The woman was killed four days after marriage as the husband and in-laws were unhappy with her quarrelsome nature and wanted to get rid of her.

The Mumbai police recovered all the body parts of a woman who was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws four days after her marriage in Shahpur on the outskirts of Mumbai. The accused had chopped the body into pieces and dumped them in different places across the state.

On Sunday the police found Priyanka Gurav’s severed head from Shahapur in Thane district and on Saturday they recovered a limb from Badlapur.

Priyanka was allegedly killed by her husband Siddhesh Gurav, 25, his parents Manohar, 50, Madhuri, 48, on May 4.The couple had gotten married on April 30. According to the police, Siddesh and his parents were unhappy with the marriage as Priyanka would often quarrel with them. So, they decided to get rid of her.

One of Siddesh’s friends, 31-year-old Durgesh Patwa, helped them chop the body into pieces. The police recovered Priyanka’s torso from a nullah at Mahape MIDC on May 6 and arrested Siddhesh, his parents and Patwa on May 10.

“The victim’s head was dumped in a Shahapur jungle. It was wrapped in several plastic bags and a bed sheet. We have recovered all the body parts and they will be sent for a DNA test this week,” added Katkar.

The police are now trying to trace the car which was used to dispose the body. “The car belonged to Soni and he drove the other accused across the state to dump the body parts,” another police officer said.

He added that the accused are being interrogated and more people are likely to be arrested.
